What is after all veterinary telemedicine?

Telemedicine is the online communication via webcam between the veterinary doctor and the animal's guardian. It allows consultations to be carried out quickly and efficiently, without the need for the guardian to go to the veterinary clinic.

This way you organize your schedule so you can work from the comfort of your home, avoiding excessive hours in the veterinary clinic and improving the entire operation and organization of your clinic, by avoiding long waiting periods by clients in the waiting room of your clinic.

Examples of consultations that can and should be done online (which do not require a prescription): post-surgical control, nutrition consultations, control consultations of any specialty area, communication of laboratory and imaging exam results, clarification of doubts.

What is after all veterinary teleconsultation?

In veterinary medicine, medical veterinary specialties are accredited by the European Board of Veterinary Specialization (EBVS) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

Veterinary Teleconsultation is a service exclusively for veterinarians, which involves communication between the veterinarian and these veterinary specialists recognized by the European and American College.

With Vetexpertise this communication is done through a digital platform in 16 pet veterinary specialty areas.

This means that you can clarify your clinical doubts and challenges, send us the most complicated/challenging clinical cases to receive help from our veterinary specialists.

Everything you need to ensure the best veterinary medical care for your patients is just a click away.

How has it been used?

Contrary to what you may think, this is not a futuristic idealization. Telemedicine and Teleconsultation have been in use for several years and has reached several milestones that have changed the world of medicine.

What advantages does Telemedicine and Teleconsultation provide?

As recently as 2020, teleradiography was the fastest growing area of telemedicine/teleconsultation and North America was the country where telemedicine was used the most (Grand View Research, 2021).

There are numerous advantages of telemedicine, as it allows you to:

- Provide medical care to patients from remote areas;

- Provide timely and effective care, even if there is a shortage of health professionals in your clinic/hospital;

- Contain costs in the area of human resources and travel;

- Share medical opinions with reference animal health professionals from various clinical areas;

- Have calm animals with low stress levels, since they can be in their homes with their guardians;

- Verify abnormal behaviors that are occurring at the moment, such as an episode of epilepsy;

- Acquire a greater number of clients and a larger casuistry;

- Expand knowledge and clinical areas under study;

- Convenience and ease of use.

Are Telemedicine and Teleconsultation two tools with a future?
